As the bus operator did not arrange an alternative bus till 2 am on Friday, passengers protested.
Hyderabad: Passengers of S.V.R. Tours and Travels from Hyderabad to Shirdi had an ordeal with the breakdown of the bus. The bus, which departed Hyderabad at 7 pm on Thursday, developed issues with the engine at 10 pm after crossing Zahirabad at the TS-Karnataka border.
As the bus operator did not arrange an alternative bus till 2 am on Friday, passengers protested. A few passengers said that they had return tickets for Friday evening.
G.K.Srinivas, a charted accountant from Kondapur who travelled in the bus, said that situation on the highway in the cold and darkness was horrible. “Children, women and senior citizens panicked. The operator arranged another bus by 3.30 am. We paid for a luxury bus and travelled in an ordinary bus, which broke down in Maharashtra for 10 minutes. I have purchased the return ticket for Friday evening,” he said. G.P. Rao, another passenger, said that condition of the alternative bus was poor.
