Bengaluru: Over 7,000 students walk against drug abuse
The students gathered at St. Joseph's Indian High School Ground at 6 am and walked along with the city police, saying no to drugs.
Bengaluru: To create awareness against drug abuse, the city police, in collaboration with Aarohan a team from Karnataka police, conducted a walkathon at St. Joseph’s College on Saturday morning.
The walkathon, from 6 am to 9 am, saw over 7,000 college students from 300 institutions from across the city taking part. The students gathered at St. Joseph's Indian High School Ground at 6 am and walked along with the city police, saying no to drugs.
The walk was flagged off by Kannada actor Ganesh along with City Police Commissioner T. Suneel Kumar, Joint commissioner (Crime) Alok Kumar, Additional CP (West) B.K. Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central division) Devraj and officers of central division.
Mr Alok Kumar, Mr Singh and Mr Devraj walked with students and police officers to spread awareness about drug abuse. It was the 26th programme of Aarohan. T-shirts, caps and wrist bands were distributed to students.
A dance workout was also conducted during the walkathon by Ms Manisha Bhatt, founder director of M Square Networks.
