BHUBANESWAR: Two people died in Odisha as Cyclone Bulbul passed through the coastal parts of the state on Saturday night, wreaking havoc and causing damage to thousands of houses, uprooting trees and affecting hundreds of phone towers, reports said on Sunday.

Two deaths were reported from Odisha’s Kendrapara district — one while drowning and the other in a wall collapse case.

A total of 5,500 houses got damaged and 870 trees uprooted after the landfall of the cyclone in West Bengal.

Odisha’s four districts were severely affected due to the impact of the cyclone.

As many as three lakh hectares of paddy crop were damaged.
