State-level soft skill event at Guntur

Guntur: The English department of Jagarlamudi Kuppuswami Chowdary College, Guntur, will hold a state-level soft skills competition on December 19. Dr I. Nageswara Rao, principal of JKC College at Guntur, said on Sunday that two competitions in Dumb Charades and walk and talk in 2 minutes will be held in which all general degree and engineering students would be eligible to participate. He said that these competitions will help students get rid of their inhibitions like shyness, stage fear and other negative traits. According to the head of English department, JKC College, P. Gopichand, the soft skill contest to bring out the excellence in verbal and non -verbal communication skills of the participants and to improve body language.
He said that there will be no entry fee. Each team would consist of two students and the maximum of five teams can participate from a college. He said that identity cards and authorisation letter from the principal is compulsory. He said that the last date for sending details is December 16 and students can register their teams through SMS to 09966893484/09985444686 phone numbers. Certif-icates will be given to all participants and cash prizes to the winners. A memento would be presented to the college.
