Congress MLC gets threat Net calls
The police are trying to trace the IP addresses of the computers from where the calls were made.
Bengaluru: The Bellandur police have registered a case against some unidentified men who allegedly made internet calls to Congress MLC G. Raghu Achar threatening to release his obscene videos if he did not listen to them.
The police have slapped Information Technology Act, 2000 (section 66 (E) – violation of privacy), and under IPC 506 – criminal intimidation and 507 – criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication.
Mr Achar (35), a resident of Bellandur, had been receiving several Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calls from December 4 till December 7, when he approached the Bellandur police station and lodged a complaint.
Mr Achar stated in his complaint that he was receiving the calls from three to four people. They threatened the MLC that if did not listen to them they would morph his images into obscene videos and post them on social media sites and also release them to television news channels to defame him and ruin his political career. One of the callers also said that his followers along with the media would gherao Mr Achar’s office in Bellandur if he did not follow their instructions.
