Hyderabad: Finding residential quarters for judges who will shift to Amaravati once Andhra Pradesh gets its own High Court has become a major problem for the AP government.
An official said the judges want to live in villas near Amaravati. The available villas — independent houses — are occupied by ministers, IAS and other officials.
The hunt is also on to identify a suitable building to house the court temporarily, till a new court house is built. Independent buildings in Guntur and Vijayawa-da are being shortlisted.
An official said AP would get about 18 High Court judges will be allotted to AP on basis of population.
AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has written to Acting CJ of the Hyderabad HC Just-ice Ramesh Rangana-than, requesting him to check and approve of the buildings identified for the High Court.
