Hyderabad: South Central Railway starts energy conservation

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad division of the South Central Railway is working towards saving electricity by replacing conventional fitting with energy-efficient devices.
The initiative commenced with the Kacheguda railway station, which earned the distinction of the first A1 category railway station.
The division has replaced 1,312 conventional lights with LED lights, and 370 ceiling fans with energy efficient brushless direct current (BLDC) fans and 12 ACs with energy-efficient inverter ACs with five-star rating.
All conventional lights have been replaced with LED lights at all 100 railway stations and 176 level crossing gates.
In all, this has reduced connected load by 217.31 KW, and resulted in annual savings of Rs 68.4 lakhs for the South Central Railway.
