Telangana: Medaram Jatara gets Kumbh-like focus
The Chief Secretary has also directed officials to make arrangements on par with the Kumbh Mela.
HYDERABAD: The Telangana state government has decided to use different platforms like social media, blogs and international TV channels to attract tourists for the upcoming Medaram Jatara.
Chief Secretary S.P. Singh issued the directions during a review meeting to discuss arrangements for the festival to be held from January 31 to February 3.
Mr Singh directed officials to extend invitations to tribal, tourism and culture ministers, bureaucrats and tribal MPs of all states to visit the jatara.
He appointed former Warangal collector Vakati Karuna to oversee the festival. He wanted a separate cell be constituted under culture department to take care of arrangements.
Mr Singh laid emphasis on ensuring hygiene and modern toilets for the devotee.
The Chief Secretary has also directed officials to make arrangements on par with the Kumbh Mela.
He asked officials to make special boarding and lodging arrangements for foreign visitors. The Chief Secretary has also asked officials to arrange helicopter services for the jatara.
He asked the police to ensure fool proof security arrangements for the jatara and ensure smooth flow of traffic during the entire period.
