Vijayawada: Shop owner fined for charging extra

APSRTC officials served a notice to a shop owner for selling products more than the MRP.

VIJAYAWADA: Reacting to a complaint lodged by passengers at PN bus station in Vijayawada, APSRTC officials served a notice to a shop owner for selling products more than the MRP on Thursday.

Officials found that the shop owner sold badam milk bottle at Rs 27, which was priced at Rs 24.

They found that the shop owner demanded customers to pay more money for various reasons like cooling char-ges and maintenance charges.

Based on complaint lodged by passenger M.S. Rao, deputy chief traffic manager A. John Sukumar at the PN bus station served warning notice to the owner of Vijaya Dairy Parlor, shop number A. 26. He also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000.

Mr Sukumar said anyone could lodge a complaint through contact number 9959225467. The deputy chief traffic manager said that passengers could lodge a complaint if the shop owners refuse to provide the complaint book.

He informed that anyone can lodge a complaint at the assistant traffic manager’s chamber or by using APSRTC toll free number 040-30102828.
