Kerala: 6,000 jobs at mega job fair

Thiruvananthapuram: Niyukthi Job fair organised by national employment services department witnessed hundreds of youth finding jobs at Government women's college on Saturday. Around 85 private companies took part in the fair, offering nearly 6,000 jobs. Though the job fair was organised primarily for job seekers of Thiruvananthapram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha districts,  people from other districts were also allowed to take part. The sector wise distribution of vacancies reported include: IT- 466, Hospitality-231, Health care- 226, Technical- 374, Management- 565, Sales and marketing-3355, Office administration- 498. Over 12,000 candidates had registered for the job fair.

Candidates who had registered through the website www.jobfest.kerala.gov.in were allowed entry. The interviews of all the candidates were also held on the same day. The salary in offer ranged from  Rs 7,000 to Rs 40,000. Jobs offered in the fair ranged from those holding SSLC to those with professional degrees. A candidate was allowed to take part in a maximum interviews of three companies. Some 15,216 candidates got jobs through the fair held at Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode last year. Around 27,000 people had found employment through the fair held from 2015 onwards, the organisers said. The job fair in Kozhikode was also held at Malabar Christian College on the same day.
