West Marredpally heaves a sigh of relief as roads are re-carpeted
However, local people and netizens expressed their doubts on how long the road would last.
HYDERABAD: At last the woes of residents and commuters of West Marredpally, who faced inconvenience for several months travelling on the damaged main road, have been addressed. Secunderabad Cantonment Authorities took up repair works on the main road stretch on Saturday night.
Re-carpeting works are being done from check post till a private bank office as well as in a few other places at West Marredpally. SCB Assistant Engineer B. Balakrishna said that the work started on Saturday night and continued till Sunday 6 am, keeping in view the regular traffic movement during day time.
However, local people and netizens expressed their doubts on how long the road would last. One Raaj Padmanabhan felt that some pipe line or cable laying work would pop up, damaging the road again. “Also the work usually has a maximum life of 2 to 3 months,” he said.
Few others like Sriram Pappuri, Sujatha Bathija and Sampath Kumar reacted that this work was being done ahead of Minister K.T. Rama Rao’s visit to inspect double-bedroom housing in Old Marredpally.
Another netizen S.Judy Lima also expressed her doubt on how long the re-laid road would last. “These days, the work is done quickly. A shower of rain and all potholes get exposed like open wound,” she said.
