Civic body yet to pay dues to PoS agency
Officials claimed that as per norms, the corporation entered into an agreement immediately after finalising the tenders.
Hyderabad: Violating norms, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has been using the services of a private agency, that has been maintaining hand-held PoS-based devices for Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) to monitor the details of around 22,000 outsource workers in the city.
Officials claimed that as per norms, the corporation entered into an agreement immediately after finalising the tenders. A year has passed but the corporation is yet to sign a Memorandum of Underst-anding (MoU). Besides this, the corporation has been not clearing the bills of the private agency that has been maintaining the PoS machines and the agency has decided to stop the services in a couple of days.
According to the GHMC officials, Analogics Tech India Ltd. had bagged the project for Rs 8 crore after participating in the tender process. As prescribed in the bid document, the corporation has to pay about Rs 79 lakh per month for a period of five years from the date of agreement. However, the corporation is yet to sign the MoU and clear the dues. Citing this, sources said that the private agency will stop their services in a couple of days.
Analogics Linux based hand held device, with STQC certified Biometric Scanner, enabled with GPS and GPRS is used to monitor and manage the attendance of GHMC sanitary workers. This enrollment free system eliminates any manipulation of attendance and misrepresentation of the number of hired GHMC workers.
Thus, it has been benefiting the GHMC both monetarily and functionally. Analogics has been supplying and maintaining 1,200 devices for a period of five years along with the development of both device side and server side applications.
