Kozhikode: LDF back in power at Chorod grama panchayat
The UDF ruled the panchayat with the support of RMPI and LJD.
Kozhikode: After a gap of three years, the LDF has grabbed power in Chorod grama panchayat. The no-confidence motion brought against UDF president K.K Nalini on Monday was passed in favour of the LDF. The switching of LJD from UDF to LDF helped the left front to grab Chorod.
There are 21 wards in the grama panchayat in which CPM has 9 members, Congress-4, IUML-3, RMPI-2, LJD-2 and BJP-1. The UDF ruled the panchayat with the support of RMPI and LJD and it was the first time UDF came into power at Chorod, which is a stronghold of CPM.
When the LJD crossed sides, the president position came into CPM's kitty. CPM's Vijila Ambalathil has been elected the new president. The lone BJP member didn't take part in the voting.
