School bows to protest, cuts fee hike

Nearly 150 parents held a five-hour long protest.

Hyderabad: Nearly 150 parents held a five-hour long protest in front of St. Peter’s School, Nacharam, after it hiked tuition fees by 40 to 80 per cent. Some parents tried in vain to take up the issue with the school on Monday. They then staged a protest. Ms Aravinda Jata of the Hyderabad School Parents Association came to the place to express solidarity. The school then agreed to limit the hike to 10 per per cent. A parent of a Class 5 student said the fee had been hiked by Rs 10,000 but was reduced to Rs 3,500.
