The recent conversion of a train from Marikuppam to the city to a MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) led to a spontaneous rail roko by daily commuters travelling from Kolar to Bengaluru at the Marikuppam Railway station early Thursday morning.

Pollachi: Commuters of a train had panic-stricken moments after they heard a huge explosive sound on the track near Pollachi railway station on Wednesday.

Passengers travelling in a train heading Coimbatore for Madurai heard a huge explosion sound on the track around 12.30 pm on Wednesday while the train was about to reach Pollachi junction.

However the loco pilot did not stop the train at the stop he drove away to Pollachi junction and informed the officials at the station. On receiving the information railway police along with Pollachi DSP Krishnamoorthy launched an investigation at the spot and found explosive materials on the track.

Police have collected the remaining materials from the track and started further investigations Police suspects it to be an attempt by unknown person to derail the train over Cauvery issue. However, police refused to disclose further information.
