Police lathi charge clashing TD-YSRC groups in Ongole
A sub-inspector was injured during a brawl between TD and YSRC men at Pittalavaripalem in Chirala.
Ongole: Except for a few incidents of violence, polling was peaceful in Prakasam district on Thursday. Police resorted to lathi charge when TD and YSRC cadre attacked each other at Ongole. A women worker of YSRC was manhandled when she came down heavily against the police for the lathi charge.
Trouble started when polling was stopped at a polling station at Saint Theresa High School at Ongole when TD nominee for the segment raised objections to the absence of agent for TD in the booth.
Cadre of both parties rushed to the polling station when YSRC nominee Balineni Srinivasa Reddy arrived at the polling station and questioned the rationale behind holding up the election because of thee absence of a polling agent. He threatened to complain to the Election Commission. Police managed to disperse the clashing groups.

Prakasam district recorded 63.36 per cent polling by 4 pm. Meanwhile, Prakasam collector V. Vinay Chand exercised his franchise at DRRM Municipal School in Ongole on Thursday evening.
Forest Minister Sidda Raghava Rao and his wife, YSRC nominee for Ongole Lok Sabha, Magunta Srinvasulu Reddy couple and TD district unit president Damacharla Janardhan couple also exercised their franchise at Ongole.
