Thiruvananthapuram: Petition against mass failure in MBBS exams

Thiruvananthapuram: The students have petitioned the Kerala University of Health Science alleging foul play in the mass failure in the MBSS examinations in Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram medical colleges.

As per reports, 22 students of the 2014 batch of Thiruvananthapuram medical college failed in the practical examinations for general medicine paper.

As many as 20 students of the same year of Kozhikode medical college failed in the paediatric paper. The students alleged that the majority of those who failed in Thiruvananthapuram medical college had complained against the actions of a particular teacher, who was later transferred. The students alleged victimisation.

The mass failure of students in the final year MBBS examination at the Government Medical College, Kozhikode, had kicked up a row in 2018 also.

As many as 34 of the 200 students in the 2013 batch failed in the final year examinations, the results of which were declared by the Kerala University of Health Sciences in March 2018. Of them, 30 failed in the practical examinations in General Medicine.

The practical exams had subjective evaluation and it was conducted by external and internal examiners while the theory papers had an objective centralised valuation system.
