Tirupati: Mahatma Jyotirao Phule role in reforms remembered
In his address during the 192 Jayanthi of Jyotirao Phule which was observed in the conference hall of TTD administrative building on Thursday.
Tirupati: Mahatma Jyotirao Govindrao Phule remains a role model to many social reformers in the country, said Tirupati JEO Mr B. Lakshmi Kantham.
In his address during the 192 Jayanthi of Jyotirao Phule which was observed in the conference hall of TTD administrative building on Thursday, he said Phule was a social activist, a thinker and a social reformer. He worked for empowerment of women and their emancipator. His work has been extended to many fields including eradication of untouchability and caste system. He remained as a visionary to many leaders, he added.
Mr Govindaiah, assistant professor of archaeology department of SV University who was the chief speaker on the occasion elaborated on the life of Phule and how he struggled to achieve his mission of equality. Welfare department Dy EO Sneha Latha was also present.
