115 remote villages in hilly areas will get power supply for first time in coming months.

Hyderabad: Within minutes of the restoration of power supply, some areas had again witnessed outage on Wednesday. Srinagar Colony, Madhura Nagar and Dharam Karam area in Ameerpet, as well as some other areas, were without power due to the tripping of transformers as the load increased suddenly after the power was restored.

The power supply was affected by Tuesday’s heavy rain and winds in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits. In areas under 221 substations in the city, there was no power supply for between one and 18 hours.

In the MLAs’ Colony in Medchal, there was no power for 18 hours. Indira Park, DK Basthi and other places went without power for 11 hours.

In Hyderabad, areas under 90 substations and in Ranga Reddy areas under 131 sub stations had no power supply from Tuesday night to Wednesday evening.

An engineer with TS Discom said that after power was restored in some areas, large numbers of consumers used the power at the same time and as a result of the overload, transformers tripped. He said if the LT transformer trips, it will affect power supply in that area only. But if the 11KV or 33KV transformer trips, it will affect hundreds of LT transformers. The Discom officials said that at present power has been restored everywhere in GHMC limits.
