Farmer donates Rs 32,000 to school in Warangal

On an average, four farmer suicides are being reported every day from districts for the past few days due to indebtedness.

Hyderabad: Farmer-turned-corporate employee  Keerthi Vardhan Reddy, a beneficiary of the Rythu Bandhu scheme, donated the Rs 32,000 he received to a government school in Matoor village of Yadadri district.

Mr Reddy, 33, announced the donation on Twitter, which was welcomed by minister K.T. Rama Rao. Mr. Reddy wrote: “@KTRTRS (I)  have been into farming for last 11 years concurrently working as a corporate employee, I have been shelling out money from the pocket for cultivation. But, since I have received support from the government for the first time (through) #Rythubandhu  scheme, I would like to donate the entire amount for the development of my village (sic)”.

Mr Reddy had received a cheque for Rs 32,000 for the eight acres of land he owns in Matoor. He told this newspaper that the decade-old school has about 150 students.
