‘Name Tiruchy international airport after APJ Abdul Kalam’
The Federation’s president Murugan said in a release here on Saturday that a resolution to this effect was adopted at their executive meeting.
TIRUCHY: The Federation of Consumer organisations of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry has appealed to the Union Government to name the Tiruchy international airport here after the great former President, late Dr A P J Abdul Kalam. He said Dr Kalam was a ‘People’s President’, above all caste and religious barriers.
The Federation’s president Murugan said in a release here on Saturday that a resolution to this effect was adopted at their executive meeting.
Mr. Murugan said the meeting also appealed to the authorities concerned to complete the railway over-bridge work near Tiruchy junction at the earliest, to establish an integrated bus terminal at Tiruchy, and to strengthen either side banks of the river Cauvery in the neighbourhood of this ancient town and to establish parks for the benefit of the tourists as well as for the elderly citizens and the local people.
