Rajkumar lso injured their 14-year-old elder son, 14, when he tried to rescue Shobha. “He tried to kill me," the elder son told Deccan Chronicle. The second son is 11 years old.

The couple was married for 17 years but Rajkumar had begun suspecting her, police said.

Shobha had lodged a complaint against Rajkumar in Nalgonda district over domestic violence and he was counselled. On Thursday too, she had gone to the High Court and informed his seniors about the harassment, following which they warned him of disciplinary action.

ACP Vanasthalipuram K. Purushotham Reddy said a case under murder and attempt to murder has been registered against the accused, who is absconding.

On Friday morning an argument broke between the couple, following which he started beating Shobha and then took a knife from the kitchen to attack her. He then chased her, pinned her down and stabbed her.

Their elder son, who has just completed his Class IX, said that he ran behind his parents to save his mother, but Rajkumar he pushed him away.  “When I fell at his feet and begged him to leave my mother, he continued to stab her and even attacked me with the same knife,” he said.

Shobha’s brother S. Swamy said that Rajkumar had started harassing Shobha physically and mentally for about five years. Swamy and her parents, residing in Jangaon district, were informed by the elder son.
