3 GHMC staffers hurt in accident

The rider who was triple riding with his friends was injured.

Hyderabad: Three GHMC sanitary workers were injured seriously when a speeding bike driven by an alleged drunk hit them at Jeedimetla on Sunday. The rider who was triple riding with his friends was injured.

Tunika Baburao, 38, his wife Tunika Pushpa, 32, and Mekala Indu were sanitary workers in Qutbullapur circle. Baburao and Indu work at the same place, but Pushpa works at a different place in Qutbullapur, where Indu lives.

On Sunday Baburao and his wife reached Indu’s place in Balanagar on their scooter. Pushpa got down from the vehicle and Indu was about to get on the vehicle. Meanwhile, a bike driven by one Vikas rammed into the three standing near the road. The three persons on the bike also fell and suffered injuries.

Baburao suffered a severe injury on his head and his condition is critical while Pushpa and Indu suffered fractures. Vikas and his friend identified as Sai also sustained fractures, while another friend, Pandu, fled from the spot.

Police registered a case against Vikas for inflicting serious injuries by an act endangering the lives of others. SI K. Srinivas said they suspected the rider was drunk. 

But he was also admitted to hospital and once he recovers they can record his statement and proceed as per evidence.
