Glitch in Dharani portal hits correction in pattadar books

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s pet project, the Dharani website that offers property registration services along the lines of core banking services to ensure transparency and check corruption, has crashed even before its full launch.

The land data of the entire state has been uploaded on Dharani after purification of records was done in all districts recently. However, over 3.5 lakh errors have come to light after new pattadar  passbooks were distributed to landowners, in the names, survey numbers, extent of land, etc.

Revenue officials have been asked to correct the errors on Dharani and issue new pattadar passbooks by June 20. Revenue officials in all districts are struggling to access the website to  correct errors.

Due to technical glitch, the website could not be opened for two weeks. Vexed with this, the revenue staff led by tahsildars is protesting in mandals and demanding more time for corrections, or fixing the technical issues in Dharani.

The Chief Minister’s Office is directly monitoring the progress of correction of errors with district collectors. The collectors who are under pressure to meet the deadline are forcing the tahsildars to complete the task. WIth the technical glitch affecting the work, the tahsildars are facing the wrath of higher-ups.

The tahsildars have joined hands saying that they are being held responsible for no fault of theirs, and have threatened to forego their one-month salary bonus announced by the CM in appreciation of completion of purification of land records drive in record 100 days.

Deputy CM and revenue minister Mohd Mahmood Ali held meetings with senior officials to resolve the issue. Technical experts were called for the meeting who assured to resolve issues in  Dharani within a week.

“The Dharani website has been facing a technical glitch due to which the  online property registration system could not be launched in time. We are hopeful of launching Dharani in a week and the website will be accessible to general public and government staff,” he said.
