KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Monday said that everyone, including public personalities, should avoid making unnecessary statements regarding the disappearance of Jesna, the college  student hailing from Pathanamthitta. The court was considering a habeas corpus petition filed by Jesna’s father seeking to trace her.

The court expressed the remark when the lawyer appearing for Jesna’s father termed as defamatory the statement of MLA P.C. George regarding the petition. P.C. George had said that the girl was not missing and if a close relative is interrogated she can be traced. The lawyer informed the court that the relative was ready to face any sort of interrogation.

The government lawyer informed the court that it is conducting investigation to trace Jesna. The government sought more time to give its statement following which the court posted the case to June 25.  Jesna Maria James had gone missing on March 22. A special team led by IG Manoj Abraham is undertaking the investigation to trace her.
