Hyderabad: The principal of Teegala Krishna Reddy Engineering College (TKREC) has allegedly sent out a circular to his college staff informing them about the deduction of half-a-day’s salary to organise the birthday celebrations of TRS MLA and TKR Educational Group owner Teegala Krishna Reddy.

Student leaders questioned as to why the staff should give their salary to celebrate the chairman’s birthday. The college management denied the allegations stating that the circular was fake. The faculty and staff members of CE, ECE, CSE, IT, MBA, H&S, Polytechnic, Library, Exam branch and Office of the TKREC received a circular dated June 7, 2018, stating “It has been decided to contribute half day salary from all the staff for chairman sir birthday celebrations. Kindly co-operate (sic)”.

Mr Krishank Manne, a student leader, said, “TRS netas are known to use their educational institutions for their political benefit. In this case the management has gone a step further by shamelessly demanding the staff to give part of their salary which is bizarre?”

Mr Goutham Rao, president, TKREC Management, said, “If the employees and staff members were willingly contributing half day’s salary to celebrate their chairman’s birthday then it is fine but if they were forced to contribute the salary then it was wrong.”

Dr Harinath Reddy from the college management and son of the chairman, said, “The circular on the internet is a fake. How could the faculty members bear the cost of such a huge celebrations by serving lunch and dinner for 1,000 guests. The total cost of the birthday celebrations has been sponsored by the society.”
