Chennai: Youth gets 15-year jail for molesting girl
After committing the crime, the accused fled the spot. The neighbours rescued the girl in a battered condition.
Chennai: The Chengalpattu mahila court on Thursday convicted a 21-year-old man on charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl in Seiyur Taluk, Kancheepuram, on July 19, 2016. He was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of ` 20,000.
According to the prosecution, M.Jagadheesan (21) was found guilty of raping the minor school girl.
The incident occurred at 11 am on July 19, 2016, when the 15-year-old girl was herding a flock of sheep near her house in Vettaikarankuppam in Seiyuu taluk.
Sources said that Jagadheesan who was in one-sided love with the girl followed her. He allegedly closed her mouth and took her to a secluded place and raped her.

Acting on a complaint lodged by the mother of the victim, Melmaruvathur all women police registered a Pocso Act, 2012. Police launched a search for the man and arrested him from a hideout.
Based on the evidence provided by the police, Chengalpattu mahila court judge P.Velmurugan convicted and sentenced him to 15-year jail for abducting, threatening and molesting the minor girl.
