New Delhi: Union home minister Amit Shah highlighted the significant threat posed by cybercrimes to global security in today's rapidly advancing digital landscape. He emphasised the importance of reliable global partnerships in effectively combating this menace. Shah will inaugurate the two-day G20 conference on 'Crime and Security in the Age of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Metaverse' in Gurugram, beginning on Thursday.

The conference will bring together over 900 participants from G20 countries, nine special invitee countries, international bodies, technology leaders, and domain experts. Shah stated that the conference will focus on global partnerships to address cybersecurity concerns and create a safer cyberspace. Rigorous brainstorming sessions will take place among G20 countries, special invitees, and domain experts.

During the conference, the home minister will also launch cyber volunteer squads comprising students from seven premier educational institutions in India. These volunteers will work towards generating cyber awareness, identifying and reporting harmful content, and providing technical assistance to ensure cyber safety in society. Additionally, an exhibition will be inaugurated, and a conference medallion will be released.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) considers building a 'cyber safe India' a top priority under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of the home minister. The conference aims to forge a global partnership to create a safe cyberspace and prioritise cybersecurity concerns. Discussions will focus on cybersecurity and measures to counter cybercrime in the context of emerging technologies such as NFT, AI, and Metaverse.

Cybersecurity has become a critical aspect of international security affairs, necessitating focused attention due to its economic and geopolitical implications. Increased emphasis on cybersecurity within the G20 forum can contribute positively to ensuring the security and integrity of critical information infrastructure and digital platforms. The conference's discussions on cybersecurity and cybercrime prevention will aid in the development of an information sharing framework.

Overall, the conference provides a platform for the exchange of cutting-edge ideas, knowledge, and networking among global visionaries in the field.
