Guwahati/Ghaziabad: A senior IAS officer from Bihar was found dead near the railway tracks here, with police recovering a purported suicide note from the spot.

The body of Mukesh Pandey, who hails from Assam and was the district magistrate of Bihar’s Buxar district was recovered from the rail tracks about one km from the Ghaziabad railway station, police said.

“I am committing suicide in district centre area of Janakpuri in west Delhi...by jumping off the 10th floor of the building. I am fed up with life and my belief in human existence has gone. I am sorry, I love you all! Please forgive me,” said the purported note, according to a senior police official.

The IAS officer’s family members said they had received an SMS from Mr Pandey in which he said, “I, Mukesh Pandey, is committing suicide.” The officer had sent a similar SMS to his friends in Guwahati.
