Anger over 'JNAFU Fine Arts' paper leak, parents and students held huge protest

Hyderabad: Annoyed with the paper leakage of JNAFU Fine Arts College, hundreds of aspirants and their parents held a huge protest at the JNAFU Fine Arts campus at Masab Tank on Saturday.

The JNAFU entrance examination was conducted in July and more than 10,000 fine arts aspirants appeared for the examination. The aspirants have applied for subjects like photography, cultural, painting, drawing but only top 100 rankers who wrote the exam in the private institutions secured ranks, alleged the aspirants and student organisations.

SFI state joint secretary Mohammad Javeed said, “Justice has not been done to aspirants who genuinely wrote the entrance examination whereas students of private institutions secured top 100 ranks. Some students who secured top five ranks had underperformed in regular studies. The aspirants told us that despite studying well, the intelligent students came 83rd or 100th rank.”

He added, “About 100 aspirants who are genuine and their parents complained to us after which we held the protest today. This is not the first time that such incidents have happened in JNAFU. We demand that a strict inquiry is conducted in this matter like it was conducted during Eamcet paper leakage. All the genuine aspirants come from really poor backgrounds and we demand justice for the poor students.”

Professor Dr V. Phani Sree Registrar, Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, said, “Yes, students have complained but there is no paper leak as such. There are some small allegations by a student who thinks that another student who has underperformed otherwise, has now got a better rank than him. There is no problem as everything is very transparent in our University but we will still conduct an inquiry into this matter and will decide what can be done further into this matter.”
