Three killed in mishaps on Chennai-Bengaluru NH
As per the police, the incident happened when the friends were riding to their room in a two-wheeler after completing their night shift.
Chennai: Barely an hour after two persons killed by over speeding van on Chennai- Bengaluru National Highway in Sriperumbudur, another biker was killed near the same spot in another accident, in the wee hours of Saturday.
In one of the incidents, K. Ragunathan (25) and K. Chithiraivel (26) of Nagapattinam, cab drivers in a private automobile manufacturing firm at Navalur in Sri Perambadur, died after a van rammed their two-wheeler. The deceased persons were staying in a rented room in Venkadu village.
According to the police, the incident happened when the friends were riding to their room in a two-wheeler after completing their night shift. “When they were on Chennai- Bengaluru Highway, an overspeeding van rammed the two-wheeler. They were thrown off the vehicle and sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. Other motorists on the way informed the Sriperumbudur police about the incident,” the police said.
The police rushed to the spot and sent the deceased bodies to Sriperumbudur government hospital for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, the police registered a case and retrieved CCTV footages from a nearby building and are been trying to determine the identity of the van that fled the spot.
In another incident that occurred less than an hour, Iruthaya Raj (28) of Lakshmipuram in Sriperumbudur died on the spot after a private bus rammed his two-wheeler close to the place where the first accident took place. Iruthaya Raj worked in a private firm and was returning home when the incident happened.
Sriperumbudur police registered separate cases and launched hunt to nab the van and bus drivers.
