KOZHIKODE: The Pink alert team of volunteers, led by Kudumbashree CDS unit of Kozhikode Corporation, became a great relief to the stressed and panicked people in the camps. Twenty women in three vehicles visited more than 26 camps within the district.

Even though people living in relief camps are properly fed and sheltered by the volunteers and authorities, anxiety over their property loss, financial crisis and struggles in the upcoming days looms their mind. Pink alert pro-actively healed their wounds this year also by initiating open conversation and attending to their needs.

Counseling team revived the panicked women. Along with supplying material the ladies gang of pink alert team ensured that everyone in the camps had a listener. More than two lakhs materials, worth Rs 5 lakh,   including undergarments, sanitary napkins, pads for injuries, pampers were supplied, with priority for women and children's products.

The volunteer group "We are with you" of Providence School integrated for empowering the traumatised.

"We have encountered mainly privacy issues among women. Government schools does not have ample facility to accommodate such a large mass, " said Ramzi Ismail, Kudumbashree project officer.

"The camp in Vengeri school was shifted to Providence College due to lack of facilities. We need better planning to address this emergency situation", he added.

"Pink alert is planning to provide relief once the people return home. USPF, a Delhi-based charity organisation, and We are with you will be integrating with Kudumbashree members to provide post relief assistance to people in coastal areas and SC colony".

Ramzi Ismail  and  T.K. Geetha, CDS chairperson, led the  volunteers. Camp visits will continue in the following days and materials can be contributed to Kudumbashree office. For more details contact: 0495- 2761 592 ,6282861104 .
