Hyderabad: Unlike the central wing of the UIDAI, its regional office in Hyderabad does not delete or invalidate the Aadhaar card of a dead person unless the family members bring this to its notice or to the notice of the GHMC.

A senior official from UIDAI said, “It is the family of the deceased that needs to inform the UIDAI or the GHMC to get the Aadhaar card invalidated. Unless this is done the card will not be cancelled. Cancellation is done by the central wing and not the regional office. However, Aadhaar cards that have been made with wrong credentials are cancelled at the regional office level.”
