Bengaluru: Finally, multi-level car parking facility in January
The project has been taken up at a cost of Rs 79.81 crore.
Bengaluru: The first phase of the much-awaited Multi Level Car Parking (MLCP) facility at the Freedom Park will be thrown open to the public on January 26, said Bengaluru Development Minister K.J. George, here on Monday.
Inspecting the MLCP facility, Mr George came down heavily against the officials for the inordinate delay. “The project was taken up about two years ago and was awarded to contractors. It should have been completed by now. The contractor has delayed the project, and shown only 50 per cent progress,” he said.
Setting a deadline of January for the first phase and June for the second, he warned of stern action if his directions are not complied with. With the completion of the facility, areas in the Central Business District, like Gandhinagar and Majestic, will get a major relief.
The project has been taken up at a cost of Rs 79.81 crore. After the first phase, around 120 cars can be parked. Mr George was accompanied by KPCC working president Dinesh Gundurao, Mayor G. Padmavathi and BBMP Commissioner N. Manjunath Prasad.
