Kollam: The body of C.E. Soosamma, 55, the nun who allegedly committed suicide in a convent, was laid to rest at Mount Tabor Dayara cemetery in Pathanamthitta on Tuesday.
The body was kept at the Dayara chapel by 9 am for the public to pay last respects. Kochi Diocese Metropolitan Dr Yakob Mar Irenios led the last sermon.
People including priests, former students, nuns, colleagues, and political leaders paid homage to the sister who was a teacher.
The autopsy had earlier found the presence of water from well inside her body indicating drowning.
There were Naphthalene balls in her belly, and her wrists were slit, suggesting multiple attempts at suicide before finally jumping into the well.
The nun with the Mount Tabor Dayara convent in Pathanapuram was found dead in a well on its premises on Sunday.
The nun was depressed apparently due to the physical ailments she suffered.
On Sunday, she did not turn up for the morning prayers, and other nuns found her body in the well on their return. They also found traces of blood in her room and the curb of the well.
Daughter of Koshi and Rahelamma of Chittoor Veedu, Koduvila, in Kallada, she was a teacher at St. Stephens School under the church for the past 25 years.
