Jet Airways launches first Chennai to Paris non-stop flight
The launch of direct flight service would facilitate corporate travel from the French and Indian industries.
Chennai: Envisaging tremendous potential for tourism and corporate travel and also the option of exploring European destinations from France, Jet Airways announced the launch of the Chennai—Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport, non-stop flight on Wednesday.
The services of the direct flight, which will commence from October 29, five days a week, will complement the airlines’ existing direct flight from Paris to Mumbai.
The addition makes Jet Airways the only airline to offer a non-stop flight between Paris and Chennai, offering the guests seamless connectivity to cities across south India. Welcoming forthcoming Jet Airways’ Chennai-Paris non-stop flight, Ambassador of France to India Alexandre Ziegler said, “it’s a positive step to improve connectivity and attract more Indian visitors.”
Assuring that all digital visas would be issued within 48 hours, Ziegler said France is keen on attracting more and more Indian travellers. The launch of direct flight service would facilitate corporate travel from the French and Indian industries, he said.
“We are delighted to be the first airline to operate a non-stop service to Paris with our codeshare partners-Air France, KLM and Delta Air Lines,” Jet Airways CEO Vinay Dube has said. “This flight will connect guests to as many as 50 destinations in Europe and 20 onwards in North America, highlighting our continued focus to expand connectivity from South India to meet the growing demand for travel from the region,” he said.
According to Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau, Managing Director, Nicolas Lefebvre, “it (the new flight connectivity) gives Paris new opportunities to welcome more Indian visitors and present them with its diverse offering.”
“France is a stepping stone and transit point for various European destinations, we have been awarded the best honeymoon destination and also the second city of preference after London. Yes, Indians love Paris. And this year we received the award for being the most indulged destination. France is number one tourist destination and the country, which is a honeymoon destination, is also attracting families offering them even vegan food options. France is also a wedding destination for Indians,” claimed Director-India of Atout France, Sheetal Munshaw. During 2016, France received 5.52 lakh tourists while it was 3.60 lakh in 2014.
Jet Airways 9W 128 will depart Chennai at 0145 (local time) and arrive in Paris-Charles de Gaulle at 0810 (local time). The flight duration is 9hr 35min. Jet Airways 9W 127 will depart Paris-Charles de Gaulle at 2210 (LT) and arrive in Chennai at 0015 (LT).
