ALAPPUZHA: S. Sudhikumar, the recently appointed non-brahmin priest at Chettikulangara Devi temple as Keezhsaanthi (assistant priest) after a controversy, has alleged that he is being targeted by the thantri Plakkudy Unnikrishanan Namboodiri and office-bearers of the R.S.S.-backed Sreedevi Vilasam Hindu Matha Convention.

Sudhikumar, who has an experience of 12 years as keezhsaanthi in various temples under the TDB,  said he was not allowed to enter the sanctum sanctorum of the temple after taking charge on September 27. “Recently the thantri came for guruthy but kept me away from puja spot and even questioned my self-respect in front of the devotees. I was told by the administrative officer S. Sreekumar that I should not take the payasam I prepared. Many of the Hindu Matha Convention members keep calling up the administrative officer alleging that the payasam I was making was of poor quality and I should be kept off the duty.”
