Hyderabad: Rains to continue for another week, but to lose intensity
There are chances of more rainfall till the monsoon withdraws completely, which is expected to be later next week.
Hyderabad: Even as the monsoon began its withdrawal from Rajasthan 17 days behind schedule, the city continued to receive heavy rainfall on Friday. Alwal received 10.8 cm of rainfall by 8 pm. Kothabasti community hall received 83 mm and Pattigadda 65.8 mm.
An official from the Indian Meteorological Department said the city had received 62 per cent excess rainfall over its long period average between October 1 and 10.
“There are chances of more rainfall till the monsoon withdraws completely, which is expected to be later next week. The monsoon has begun withdrawing, Mr Y.V. Rama Rao, meteorologist, Telangana state development planning Society, told Deccan Chronicle.
He said the southwest monsoon could overlap with the northeast monsoon. While its intensity would be lesser and focused on districts like Bhadrachalam, it would seem like an extension of the southwest monsoon,” he said.
