Indian Coast Guard DG on maiden visit to Bengal

Kolkata: Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Director General, Rakesh Pal, is on his maiden visit to Coast Guard (North East) regional headquarters in Kolkata from October 10-13.

He will review the operational readiness and status of ongoing infrastructure development projects in West Bengal.

This includes inspection of afloat facilities and equipment at Haldia and visit to forward ICG base at Frazerganj for assessing operational preparedness.

The Flag Officer will chair the National Maritime Search and Rescue Board meeting on Thursday in Kolkata.

On Wednesday Mr Pal visited ICG (NE) regional headquarters. He was received with the ceremonial 50 men guard of honour.

He was also presented with an overview of the Coast Guard's operational and ongoing infrastructure development projects in West Bengal and Odisha.

In his address, the Flag Officer apprised officers and men of ICG on policy reviews, upcoming developments in terms of infrastructure, augmentation of CG Fleet, and international cooperation.
