Note ban after effects: Pink notes yet to bring respite
Smaller businesses were refusing to accept the Rs 2,000 notes for lack of lesser denomination notes.
Hyderabad: The brand new Rs 2,000 notes have not brought much respite to the public who say that they are more decorative than of any real use now.
Customers visiting shopping malls, super bazaars and retail markets were asked to shop more to utilise the “pink note” as no one had any change to return. Uppal resident M. Yanadi Reddy said he had shopped for groceries for Rs 1,700, but was told to buy more so that the bill amount could touch the Rs 2,000-mark. He said he had no option, but to buy extra products.
Smaller businesses were refusing to accept the Rs 2,000 notes for lack of lesser denomination notes. This resulted in some people going back to banks again to request the staff for smaller notes, but returned disappointed.
