AP, Telangana ignored prohibition, says expert

Tirupati: Coming down heavily on the AP and Telangana governments, Lakshma Reddy, convener of the anti-liquor movement in the state, alleged that they had ignored prohibition in order to fill their coffers with booze money. Speaking at a roundtable conference on anti-liquor policy held by Jana Chaitanya Vedika at Tirupati on Sunday, Reddy said that the AP and TS governments were encouraging liquor shops and ruining the lives of innocent families.
“On the one hand, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is claiming that his government is curtailing wine shop licenses that would automatically reduce the number of liquor shops. On the other hand he is silently encouraging the establishment of such shops. The same is happening in Telangana,” Mr Reddy said. He stressed that public consumption of liquor should be stopped so that the adolescents are not tempted to go astray.
