Shashidhar Reddy Urges EC to Transfer DCP, Claims MIM Links
Hyderabad: BJP leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy wrote to Chief Election Commissioner seeking the transfer of south zone DCP P. Sai Chaitanya for alleged proximity with AIMIM leaders.
Reddy, chairman of the BJP Election Commission affairs committee, claimed the official’s posting was done at the behest of MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and alleged that the DCP was “acting on the directions of the AIMIM leaders.”
He claimed that the official did not book Dr Imtiyaz Ahmed Khan, son of Charminar AIMIM MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan, though there were allegations of extortion against him. A case as booked due to the intervention of the Hyderabad police commissioner, Shashidhar Reddy said. The Khans and hundreds of MIM activists had taken out a protest rally which has created panic among the locals.
Attaching some photographs which said substantiated his claim, Shashidhar Reddy alleged the elections could not be held in a free and fair manner if the official was not transferred. The letter was also sent to the Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj and DGP Anjani Kumar.
