Jayaprakash Narayan slams Kapu reservation, says farmers being ignored

Vijayawada: Lok Satta chief Jayaprakash Narayan flayed the state government on the issue of reservations to Kapus asking how the government could announce five per cent reservation for the community without listening to the legalised commission. The leader visited Vijayawada on Monday and spoke to media on different issues at the press club. He said, “The state government is not concentrating on agriculture or investing in the sector. Governments are cheating farmers. Giving Rs 2 lakh as compensation after their suicide is not a help.” He also raised questions on the education system in Andhra Pradesh.
He said the strength of students in primary schools is less than the required 60. Students from Class VIII are unable to do simple division sums. Students of Class II are not able to read even the local language. Mr Narayana bemoaned the conditions of hospitals, too. He said, “The government is not spending the minimum on hospitals. Doctors are not able to serve patients in a proper way. Many hospitals are operating with just two doctors.”
