Independents play spoil sport

Hyderabad: Independents played a spoil sport in few constituencies. The voter share by independents in Jubilee Hills constituency and None of the Above (NOTA) option in Amberpet assembly constituency changed the fate of the BJP senior leader and former party State president, G Kishan Reddy and former legislator P. Vishnuvardhan Reddy. 

BJP candidate G. Kishan Reddy was defeated by Kaleru Venkatesh of the TRS by a margin of 1,016 votes, while as many as 1462 voters choose NOTA option which could change the fate of BJP leader and defeat for Kishan Reddy happens to be the first defeat for Reddy after a string of victories that resulted in him representing Himayathnagar in 2004 and successive victories from Amberpet in the 2009 and 2014 elections.

V. Naveen Yadav, who meant to be the close associate of Vishnuvardhan's father and former Congress minister P. Janardhan Reddy contested independently and shared 18, 817 votes.
