Misuse of power sunk Madhusudhana Chary's ship
While Mr Venkata Ramana Reddy got 69,918 votes, Mr Satyanarayana won 54,283 votes and Mr Chary 53,567 votes.
Warangal: While the state was awash with pink, Assembly Speaker Sirikonda Madhusudhana Chary had an embarrassing defeat in Bhupalapalli after he was pushed to the third position, behind winner Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy of the Congress and TRS rebel Gandra Satyanarayana Rao who contested as an independent.
While Mr Venkata Ramana Reddy got 69,918 votes, Mr Satyanarayana won 54,283 votes and Mr Chary 53,567 votes.
In 2014, too, the fight was between Mr Satyanarayana, then contesting on a BJP ticket, Mr Venkata Ramana Reddy and Mr Chary.
Bhupalapalli posed a tight contest with four strong leaders locking horns. It was a nail-biting contest as all were considered as strong contenders and it was difficult to predict a winner before the elections. However, the people chose the Congress over the TRS.
Though Mr Chary brought significant development in Bhupalapalli, he faced allegations of massive irregularities and his sons allegedly got involved in land deals and misusing power.
As a result, there was a massive negative mood against Mr Chary.
