Karnataka: CM Siddaramaiah sets deadline of 2024 for completion of Basaveshwara LIS
Belagavi: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has instructed officials to expedite the completion of the Basaveshwara (Kempavada) lift irrigation project in Kagavada taluk, aiming for a deadline set at the end of September 2024.
Accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and Kagwad MLA Bharamgouda (Raju) Kage, Siddaramaiah chaired a review meeting at his office in Suvarna Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday.
According to officials, the Basaveshwara lift irrigation project was initiated in 2017, and as of now, 85 percent of the work has been successfully completed, with an expenditure of Rs 1067 crore. The installation of two pumps is slated for February 2024, followed by the addition of three more pumps by June 2024.
With a keen eye on project completion, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah directed officials to ensure the entire project is finished by the end of September 2024.
Senior officials present during the review included Water Resources Department ACS Rakesh Singh, ACS to Chief Minister and Finance Department LK Ateeq, and Secretary to CM Dr KV Trilokachandra Jain.
