The Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) in Telangana has decided to hold practical exams for senior Intermediate students only in colleges equipped with CCTV (closed circuit television) facilities.

Hyderabad: The Telangana state government on Thursday issued the schedule for the Common Entrance Tests (CETs) for admission to various professional courses in the state for the ensuing academic year (2017-18).

According to the schedule released by the TS Council for Higher Education, EAMCET will be held on May 12, 2017, ECET on May 6, PECET on May 16, ICET on May 18, LAWCET and PG-LCET on May 27, EDCET on May 28 and PG-ECET on May 30.

CET Time table

This year the admission to medical courses (MBBS/ BDS) will only be through the national-level NEET. However, for agriculture, veterinary and other allied courses, students will have to appear for the EAMCET medical stream exam.

JNTU-Hyderabad has been entrusted the responsibility of conducting the EAMCET again. The examination will be held offline, as usual, despite proposals to administer the test online in order to prevent leaking of question papers.

Such an incident was witnessed last year, which forced the government to conduct the EAMCET medical entrance exam for a second time, causing hardship and inconvenience for students.

Many persons were arrested as the probe. The PG-ECET for M. Tech/ M. Pharmacy admissions and ECET (lateral entry for students of polytechnic engineering) will be conducted online this year as a pilot.

These examinations were chosen for the pilot since the number of applicants is relatively low, as compared to the other CETs.  This will help officials gain first-hand experience in the new method so that it can be extended to other CETs as well in the coming years.
