Kerala: Man found dead in Traffic Commissioner's office
The body has been sent to Alapuzha medical college for postmortem.
KOCHI: The city police has been baffled by a bizarre incident in which an unidentified person was found hanging from in the second floor ceiling of the office of the assistant commissioner of police (traffic) at Edappally on Friday morning. The police came to know of the incident when an official reached the place to open the office early in the morning.
“It is a baffling incident and we have taken all guidelines issued by National Human Rights Commission in conducting the autopsy”, said Dr. Arul RB Krishna, Deputy Commissioner of Police. “We don’t know the identity of the person and from his looks we suspect he is a migrant worker”, he said.
The autopsy proceeding was conducted in the presence of judicial magistrate, RDO and other officials, Dr. Krishna said. The body has been sent to Alapuzha medical college for postmortem by a team of doctors as per the NHRC guidelines, he said.
On the suspicion of foul play on the part of the police as the person was found hanging in a shoelace, the DCP said it is natural that the incident creates such an impression in the minds of the people. “The possibility of an allegation of custodial torture is unlikely as the police has not taken anyone into custody,” he said.
