Water woes rock Guntur Zilla Parishad meet
Minister orders suspension of three RWS officials for dereliction of duties.
Guntur: The Guntur Zilla Parishad general body meeting was stormed with drinking water difficulties and demands of disciplinary action against lazy officials.
The meeting was held at Guntur on Friday in which MLAs, ZPTCs, MPTCs, MLCs, ministers and officials participated. Minister for agriculture P. Pulla Rao ordered suspension of three officials for giving false reports.
Macharla MLA P. Ramakrishna Reddy was angry over the statement of rural water supply department EE, G. Sarma about digging of 20 bores in Macharla and challenged him to show them. He alleged that RWS department was giving false reports and did not quench the thirst of the public and demanded disciplinary action against RWS officials.
Responding to Mr Ramakrishna Reddy, Mr Pulla Rao directed Narsaraopeta revenue division officer to suspend RWS EE, DE and AE after conducting an inquiry about false report of digging borewells.
Repalle MLA A. Satya-prasad and Baptla MLA K. Raghupathi alleged that as the water in the sea coast is salty, the locals asked to supply 20 tankers of drinking water per day but the officials are supplying only three tankers and demanded appointing of a special officer to resolve drinking water difficulties.
Telugu Desam MLA of Vinukonda G.V. Anjaneyulu lamented that one lakh public are facing severe difficulties for drinking water due to drying of Singara water tank in Vinukonda and asked ministers to relea-sed 8 TMC ft of water from Krishna river to quench the thirst of the public.
Mangalagiri MLA A. Ramakrishna Reddy alle-ged that the faults during the registration of Aadh-aar cards are restraining the weavers to benefit from loan waiver scheme. He alleged that officials are helping bogus societies to get loan waiver and did not help the common weaver. Guntur collector Kantilal Dande expressed an-ger over the officials and ordered to clear weavers’ loan wavier pending applications.
MLC A.S. Ramakrishna demanded filling of vac-ant teachers posts in the government schools in Macharla, Veldurthi, Repalle and Durgi mandals.
Minister Mr Pulla Rao said that the ZP has sent action plan with Rs 24.66 crore expenditure to the government for resolving water difficulties and assured about supplying water through tankers in the areas where borewell water is unavailable.
Minister for social welfare R. Kishorebabu announced sanctioning of Rs 8 crore for water supply to 10 villages in Macharla and using of SC/ST sub-plan funds for water supply in SC/ST villages.
