CPM, BJP clash at Koyilandy

The CPM workers were attacked by alleged members of BJP at KTS Library at Puliyanchery.

KOZHIKODE: Six CPM workers were hospitalised as clashes erupted between BJP and CPM workers in Koyilandy on Monday. Eleven households belonging to members of both parties were also vandalised in the violence.  The CPM workers were attacked by alleged members of BJP at KTS Library at Puliyanchery. The injured are K.T. Sijesh, K.T. Rajan, K.T. Achuthan, Biju, Vivek and Bineesh. They were admitted to the Kozhikode Medical College. 

Houses of BJP workers were vandalised soon after the attack. The vandalized houses include that of Yuvamorcha leader Akhil Panthalayani, Chandran Panjatthazha, Maruvattom Ajith Kumar and others. Subsequently bombs were hurled at the homes of CPM workers Nagath Balan, Vadakekattil Shivadas and Thaikandy Krishnan. In all 11 houses were vandalised, said K Unnikrishnan, inspector, Koyilandi.  The hartal called by CPM in Koyilandy municipal limits on Monday was peaceful. Shops remained shut in the town area. Police is camping in the area and cases were taken against both BJP, CPM workers.
